Fidus Systems Appoints Kevin Rankin as President

Former CEO of Tropic Networks Strengthens Fidus Leadership Team

Ottawa, Ontario - January 8, 2008 -- - Fidus Systems Inc., an electronic product development company specializing in turning ideas into great products, has appointed Kevin Rankin to the position of President. Effective immediately, Mr. Rankin will take over the day-to-day leadership while Mike Wakim, the Company’s founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), is on sabbatical. Mr. Wakim returns in July 2008 and will remain as Fidus’ CEO and Chairman of the Board during his sabbatical.

With 24 years of experience in high tech, Mr. Rankin has held a variety of senior management positions in Newbridge Networks, LSI Logic and Northern Telecom. Most recently, Mr. Rankin founded the Ottawa-based Tropic Networks Inc. As CEO, he led the company from its inception in 2000 to its acquisition by Alcatel-Lucent in April 2007. Mr. Rankin serves as a board member for International Datacasting Corporation (TSX: IDC), The Bridge Wesleyan Church and the Ontario Centres of Excellence’s (OCE) Centre for Photonics. He is also involved in the Mindtrust Leadership Development Program, which is an executive mentoring program for both Carleton and Ottawa University students.
