Fidus AIS Receivers support reception of AIS messages.  Whether a customer’s need is airborne, shipborne or for a new application, Fidus’ Receivers offers excellent performance and flexibility.

Currently Fidus offers AIS Receivers with two different architectures.  Both receivers offer comparable AIS performance, however, one architecture is intended for applications where the end-user has a significant amount of additional processing requirements, whereas the other architecture is for the lower-cost AIS receive market

For end-users with significant processing requirements:

The Fidus Receiver features an FPGA, employing high-speed Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to implement the dual channel GMSK receiver. Embedded in the FPGA are Dual PowerPC® processors:  One is lightly loaded with functions related to AIS processing, board supervision and message bridging, while the other is unused and just waiting to handle mission critical tasks. Built originally in a VME64x form factor, the design is easily customizable for new form factors such as standalone, miniature module, cPCI and PMC.

For end-users that are just looking for AIS functionality:

The Fidus Receiver is a lower cost version based on a low-cost FPGA and System-on-a-Chip Processor.  The design utilizes a minimal number of components and is extremely well-suited to the miniature module market.
